Heads affected by injuries before Sekhukhune’s showdown

The Kaizer Chiefs will be without some of their key players when they meet Sekhukhune United in their penultimate DStv Premiership on Saturday afternoon. The match starts at Emirates Airlines Stadium (formerly Ellis Park) in Johannesburg at 15:00.

Amakhosi manager Arthur Zwane has revealed that he will be without the services of some of his key players like Keagan Dolly and Phathutshedzo Nange for this game.

“We lost Nange, who is disqualified, and (Kearyn) Baccus due to a thigh injury, we thought he would be available,” says Zwane.

“We tried to go further, thinking he might pass a late fitness test, but unfortunately he didn’t make it and won’t be available for this match.

“Keagan Dolly also has a calf injury, which was remedied on Wednesday. She will be out for six to eight weeks. (Samir) Nurkovic will be out with a knee injury. So all those injuries happened towards the end of our preparations. Now we had to reaffirm other things and prepare the team in terms of combined play ”.

The unavailability of these stars is not a hit because it gives Zwane the opportunity to give some of the players who haven’t had much playing time a chance to show what they have. This is particularly important as he already has an eye on preparations for next season.

We’re trying to see who can give us that balance moving forward. Some have responded positively, others are a bit marginal because they haven’t played in a while. So we’ll see who we think will give us that extra oomph or balance or better attack options.

“Maybe we will choose (Bernard) Parker or Lazalous (Kambole) as who we will start. We welcome Mshini (Nkosingiphile Ngcobo) back, but he too is not 100%.

“We are trying to get the right combinations. It’s the nature of this game, where key players face challenges here and there due to injuries, but we’ll see what we can do. “

Zwane they also said they have done their homework on Sekhukhune and know what to expect and have a plan for the Limpopo team.
