Modise believes winning the Confederation Cup will do the Pirates good

Winning the Caf Confederation Cup will restore pride and hope back to the Orlando Pirates, says former Pirates midfielder Teko Modise ahead of the Buccaneers semi-final, return match with Al Ahli Tripoli at Orlando Stadium on Sunday.

Modise says the second leg against Al Ahli is crucial for the Soweto giants, but believes that if the players play their best, as they did in the first leg, there is nothing to stop them from beating Tripoli. especially since they won 2-0 in Libya a week ago.

“They are playing a very important game, they have a 2-0 lead and … 2-0 is just a slippery result because one goal can change the whole complexion of the game,” Modise said.

“But, if they play the way they played and take the game seriously, they have a chance to go all the way and win it because they have the players.

“And again, I think this is the trophy that will bring the glory days back to the club, it will bring hope back to the fans. This is a trophy that will set things in motion for them ”.

Modise spoke at the Heineken All-Invitational Exhibition 5-a side match press conference in Johannesburg on Friday.

Modise was included alongside other former South African footballers and current players such as Lucas Radebe, Benni McCarthy and Andile Dlamini, as well as international legends such as Clarence Seedorf, Luis Garcia and US women’s football legend Kristine Lilly, to celebrate inclusivity and diversity in the beautiful game, on and off the pitch.

Modify adds that the initiative will lead to constructive conversations about women’s football and help develop and grow the game.

“It will elevate women’s football in the country and throughout Africa. It will create conversations about it in terms of the equality they fought for. There are women’s soccer matches that are televised in the Hollywoodbets Super League, it’s a slow change, but sooner or later it had to happen, “she added.

The All-invitational match will take place on Saturday at the Gallagher Convention Center in Johannesburg.
