West Chester Borough Fire Department rescues Jack Russell terrier mix that got stuck hunting groundhog in Cheser County, Pennsylvania.

EAST BRADFORD TWP., Pennsylvania (WPVI) – A dog that got stuck after chasing a groundhog is safe at home thanks to firefighters in Chester County, Pennsylvania.

According to the West Chester Borough Fire Department, a 2-year-old Jack Russell terrier mix named Chloe got rid of its owner just before 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

Chloe had seen a marmot and had decided to chase it.

However, the dog did not catch the furry animal. Chloe got stuck under a concrete slab in block 600 of Tower Lane in East Bradford Township.

Firefighters were called and set to work to rescue the dog.

“The officers-in-chief, along with the crews of Ladder 53 and Brush 51, began carefully digging and moving large concrete slabs in an attempt to free Chloe,” the firefighters said in a Facebook post.

It took the crews an hour and a half to free the dog.

Officials say Chloe was not seriously injured.
